  xBML™ The DNA of Business

xBML™ is used to describe the DNA of business. xBML™ is simple, intuitive, and easily understood by all levels of an organisation. It is formally and rigorously defined and xBML™ business models are unambiguous and truly representative of the business operation. Further, xBML™ is multidimensional; no other modeling language captures all of the dimensions of a business operation. Some capture activities, some information requirements, and others organisational characteristics, but none captures all of the facts pertinent to the business operation within a single business model. xBML™ genes, the building blocks of an organization, are based on a familiar (business-facing), yet powerful set of questions:

What activities must the business perform to achieve its purpose?
Which information is used to perform each activity?
Who performs each activity?
When are the activities performed?
Where are the activities performed?

In order to explicitly understand a business, you must know these five dimensions. Once captured within xBML™ models, the dimensions can be integrated into a single comprehensive How model that captures the sequence of the activities, the dependencies between the activities, and the flow of information which, who, where, when - from one activity to another. Simply describing the business using xBML™ provides unparalleled insight into the operations of a business.
